Your days are truly numbered

A year has passed since the digital switch over; and I’ve finally placed an order for a new one. So it’s time to say good bye to this little guy. Thank you for your service, my friend. We had many good times together.

  1. We’ve had digital TV for a while, but we are still recording TV on a PC in analog. We were in a store the other day where our cable TV service was promoting a new product, and the salesman stopped us to do a sales pitch about the product. When we told him what our current setup was like, he just kind of waved us on… apparently our analog recordings made us so far out of the norm that he didn’t want to waste his time talking to us. :-/

  2. I’m still using an analogue TV with a converter on it. If I’m gonna spend money on a new TV, I want better programs.

  3. Hi guys! Thank you for popping in.
Forgot to say the TV was showing a scene from “The Shearing Gang” when I took the pic. Only in New Zealand you see “The Shearing Gang” listed in a prime time slot. But who doesn’t like “the Shearing Gang”? 😉

@Aadil: I suppose I can find a few on Trademe (the most popular auction site in NZ), possibly some good bargains.

@Deb: I’d say it was a good thing the magic word “analogue” discouraged the sales guy from wasting your time. I’m planning to keep the set-top digital tuner and VCR for recording important shows like Doctor Who. :p At least the one I’ve ordered comes with no frills and analogue AV input jack.

@derwandersmann: I just wanted a bigger TV because of my eyesight. I would carry on using analogue if I didn’t need to sit at arm’s length from that small screen (19 in’). It used to be OK as old shows were in 4:3 format. Now most are in 16:9 or 16:10, so things are even smaller on screen. 🙁
