So I restarted taking part in the forums. That was how I started out at My Opera. The “Viv” forums look deceptively like My Opera forums, with so many familiar handles dotted everywhere. The differences, however, take a bit of getting used to.
For example, the post voting system. That’s new. I kind of like it. A good way to encourage positive participation. Though, after reading the thread titled “A few words about users reputation”, I felt I gained a little better insight into this new system.
Another thing is the deceptive familiarity of “inserting” in forum posts. If I remember correctly, we used a modified BB code system at My Opera forums. The new system, of choosing what to insert from the options given, is mostly good enough for me, until the ‘I want to put this in block-quote .. How do I insert block-quote?’ moment hits. Such a moment tells me to appreciate there is still a learning curve to take, no matter how I think myself an “old hand”.
Chur!
Please note: this post includes a link to my old legacy blog resurrected as “Hard Life Original” (under the account mimismum0 (how origiinal!))
Thanks for your post 🙂 It would be interesting if they add the option to markdown code. I use note taking apps (eg. Inspire Writer) and it would be nice to practice.
Thanks for your comment. Sorry about the late approval and reply. Still learning. Cheers, MM
Somewhat accidentally discovered your tweet on Vivaldi for Android, and decided to come see what Vivaldi community looks after several years. And it looks better than I expected. I see here some similar excitement as there was at MyOpera community.
So, popped by to say that your posts were noticed. Not very sure yet if I will stay around though.
Hi Sami!
Sorry for the late reply. Glad to see you here, made the trouble of starting yet another blog worthwhile. Cheers,
MM
